October 18, 2011 - Endeavor

Samuel and I showed up at Valhalla's Gate tonight to participate in the Mid-Missouri Strategy Gamers Society weekly game night.  There were a number of games going on and we jumped into a game of Endeavor.  Samuel fared well.

Tonight was the third day in a row of gaming at the Barton Gaming Palace.  Mark took a works-based strategy to victory, utilizing recruiting cards and jesters to complete six works.

Our fastest game of Brass yet was completed in exactly 140 minutes.  But the real story was how close the final scores were after the rail period.

October 14, 2011 - Brass

Dan took an interesting approach where he did not worry about developing early and instead strengthened his income by building his 1 tech industries knowing full well that they would disappear after the canal period.  But this proved to work well for him as his income kept climbing and he made the most of it by being able to build two ships at the end to clinch the victory.

October 13, 2011 - Brass

Location: Barton

Mark sold cotton early and built ships late and at no time was that worried about links.  Dan was solid from start to finish with Samuel right at his heels.  I was just there complaining about my cards and my quality of play.  We've now played this game twice and I can say it's enjoyable as both a 3-player and 4-player game.

October 10, 2011 - Age of Steam

Samuel and I played the St. Lucia expansion map for a two-player game of Age of Steam.  Samuel started aggressively with back-to-back urbanization in rounds 1 and 2, then closed things out by blocking the locomotive action from being taken in the last three rounds.

October 8, 2011 - Brass

This was the group's first play of Brass.  Overall, I was impressed and really enjoyed the unique aspects of this game.  I think we all agreed that it was "different" and engaging.  Things get pretty intense in the second half of the game which adds to the game length as the players carefully consider their final actions.
