Dan took an interesting approach where he did not worry about developing early and instead strengthened his income by building his 1 tech industries knowing full well that they would disappear after the canal period. But this proved to work well for him as his income kept climbing and he made the most of it by being able to build two ships at the end to clinch the victory.
